Plaster, Render or Microcement?
Aesthete Sunshine Coast | Photographer Kelli Jean Black
We’re often asked which of our products are suitable for different spaces. For example, is our Ibiza plaster suitable for countertops? Or, what product is best suited for fireplaces? Each of our products are suited to different areas and have different characteristics. Here’s a high level overview of each of our plasters, render and microcement.
IBIZA GYPSUM AND LIME PLASTER
Ibiza plaster is our natural, Australian-made plaster suitable for application to interior decorative walls. It’s not suitable for areas that get direct exposure to water or impact (such as countertops or floors). The ideal substrates are plasterboard (ie: Gyprock), cement sheeting, brick or block. But other substrates are possible – please contact us for guidance. Ibiza plaster is naturally fire-retardant, so it can be applied to fireplaces.
CLAYWORKS CLAY PLASTERS
Another internal, decorative plaster, Clayworks clay plasters are suitable for application to internal walls and are not suitable for areas exposed to direct water. Clay plaster (or earth plaster as it’s sometimes known) is softer than lime and gypsum-based plasters. So we recommend using them in areas that are not exposed to high impact or that require frequent cleaning.
